Rebecca's Fifth Month

"I am five months old, and sitting next to my friend the bear."

I really loved this past month.  You are interacting with us a lot, and still so cuddly and sweet!  You have changed so much this month.  Looking back at the pictures from the beginning of the month you look so different to me!

I had to take a photo shoot of you in your kitty hat before you outgrew it!

A week into your fifth month, we traveled to Boise to visit grandma & grandpa and other extended family.  Your great-aunts, grandma Kellie, and Aunt Megan hosted a shower for you.  Everyone was so happy to see you again or meet you!

You were worn out from the previous day of traveling!

You napped on me and we played some shower games.

Poor Becca!  Grandpa Sean tries to comfort you.  This photo cracks me up, sorry Becca!

Both you and daddy were worn out from the shower, so you took a nap together.  We had to bring back the swaddle for a day.

"Really mom? Was this hat necessary?"  Yes Becca, it was. ;-)

There's a bit of Irish in all of us!

After trying so hard last month to roll over, you succeeded this month!  Most babies first roll from their stomach to back first, but you did the opposite and rolled from your back to your belly first.  You use your legs to kick yourself over to your side (which you figured out last month, but got stuck after that), and this month you learned to tuck your shoulder and roll!

Georgie told you a funny joke.

Your dad and I joke that you need constant entertaining.  You like a change of scenery pretty often, and you like interacting with others.  You cry to us, "Entertain me!"

Holding your own bottle.  I'm told that if you finish your bottle and you want more milk, you start crying right after you've guzzled down the last drop.  People hurry to get you more out of the freezer!  It used to take you 20 minutes to drink 2 ounces from a bottle, now it takes you about 5 minutes for 3 ounces from the same bottle!

I made this for you at my baby shower.  You look so cute in it!

You love bringing your feet up to your mouth.  You've been doing the "happy baby" yoga pose a lot this month!

Happy baby!

You started taking an interest in your toys.  Before we'd try to show you toys and you didn't have much interest, but now you love grabbing toys and looking them over and bringing them to your mouth.  You like Sophie the Giraffe, rattles, and a small stuffed orange monkey.

You've been doing this since you were very little, but I don't know if I've written about it - when you're eating and I have to unlatch you for some reason you say, "Eh, eh, eh," and open your mouth wide.  I think you're telling me, "Mom, I wasn't done, I'm still hungry!"

We went to mom and baby yoga.  We hadn't been for about a month and I really saw how you'd changed from the last time.  This time you were rolling around on your blanket a lot and looking around.  When I put you on my leg facing me in Warrior you started opening your mouth and getting excited.  You definitely know where food comes from!

You've gotten more easy going with other people.  My friend's mom held you for a few minutes while I went to get some frozen yogurt and you were totally cool with her.  You even let her hold you some more when I got back.

You look so sweet here

Your dad is really enjoying being a dad now.  He told me he thinks about you at work and he talks about you to his patients and shows them pictures of you.  They all say you are such a cute baby!

Taking a stroll around the neighborhood with daddy

For a while there you were spitting up on me daily.  Your dad joked about you, "I don't always spit up, but when I do, it's on mommy."  I discovered that it makes more sense to just wash a portion of my hair that got spit up on than having to wash all of it before I was planning to.

Happy Easter!  Georgie photobomb

When you wake in the mornings I bring you to our bed for your morning feeding and I really enjoy that.  We get some good cuddles in to start our day!

A typical weekend morning.  Mommy's spot is right between Georgie and Becca.

Landon's mommy and I went to get manicures and pedicures and came home to this.  Too cute!

You love playing airplane!  Daddy or I will lift you into the air and you lift your head to look around and kick your legs and laugh.  Airplane will always cheer you up!

"Hmm, which one of these should I stick into my mouth first?"

"Get me out of this carseat now!"

Almost sitting up!

We measured and weighed you at home and you weigh about 16 pounds and are about 26.5 inches.  I think I may have been off on the height measurement though.  You started out the fifth month wearing a mix of 3-6 month and 6-9 month clothing, and now you are fitting perfectly in the 6-9 month sizes.

Rebecca's Fourth Month

4 months old!

Your fourth month seemed to go by faster than all the previous months for some reason.  You continue to be a very good baby.  I really fell in love with you this month and I just love being your mama!  You are my little buddy and I love spending my days with you.  After I put you in your crib for the night I look at pictures of you on my phone.  I just can't get enough of you!

Enjoying a delicious cocktail of breastmilk and more breastmilk

We celebrated Valentine's Day a few days into your fourth month.  People loved your footprint heart Valentines we sent them.

Cute little cupid!

We go out and do different things every day, and we have fun at home with tummy time, singing songs, reading books, and playing with toys.  You met up with babies Landon, Ada, Edie, Lorena, Caroline, and Ellie.  You haven't quite rolled over, but you're able to roll from your back onto your side, and you try real hard to get on to your tummy from there.  It shouldn't be too much longer until you're rolling!

I've got a Becca and a Georgie on my lap.  Life is good!

All bundled up for a walk around the neighborhood!

We went through the unswaddling process this month, and you did fantastic with it.  I was worried it might disrupt your sleep, but you adjusted quickly.  We started off with one arm out of the swaddle, then a week later left both arms out.  Now you are going to bed in a sleep sack with your arms free.  It's funny when I see you on the video monitor with your arms flailing around while you sleep.

Taking a nap together (edited for modesty's sake)

My loves!

I celebrated my 30th birthday during your fourth month.  Last year when I blew out my birthday candles I made a wish for a baby.  Two weeks later I found out I was pregnant with you!  Needless to say, you are the best birthday present I could have ever imagined.

You look so cute in the Moby wrap!

You are drooling a ton now!  We have you wear bibs so your shirts don't get soaked from all the saliva dripping from your mouth.  You don't have any other symptoms of teething besides the drool, but that could be right around the corner.

Daddy giving you a bath

One of your new favorite things to do

You started sucking on your thumbs, and I have to say it's quite adorable.  You look so sweet sucking on your thumbs!

You've got rolling from your back to your side down.

Although you sleep really well at night once you're asleep, we're still not able to just put you in your crib and have you fall asleep on your own.  I've been nursing you to sleep every night and then transferring you to your crib when you fall asleep, but we need to work on getting you to fall asleep on your own.  The other night you woke up shortly after I put you in your crib and cried out for me.  I went and got you and laid you down in our bed in between me and your daddy and got ready to nurse you, but you just put your thumb in your mouth and got yourself back to sleep.  It was pretty funny.  It made us think, "Hmm, is she working us?"  You're already a smart girl who knows what she wants!

Snuggling up next to mama

At your 4 month check-up you were 26 1/4 inches long (100th percentile!) and 14 pounds 12 ounces (60th percentile).  You are still in the 3-6 month clothing, which surprises me because you flew through the newborn and 0-3 clothing.  You're kind of in between sizes though.  The 6 month sleepers are too short for you, but when I tried to put on some 9 month pants, there was a huge gap at the waist.  You are our long and lean baby!

Before bedtime

It's tummy time for everyone!
